Advance your sign language fluency by diving deeper into its grammar. Learn the art of dynamic conversations, meaningful use of facial expressions, and the creative storytelling processes through online group sessions.

Course Content

Lesson 1 : Conversation Building
Lesson 1 teaches how to build a sign language conversation in five steps: Start, Tag, Shift, Clarify, End. You will explore how to get attention, use reactions and tags to show understanding, ask for clarification, use body movement and facial expressions to change topics or take turns, and end a conversation clearly.

Lesson 2: Body Language & Emotion
Lesson 2 teaches how facial expressions, head movements, posture, and mouth shapes are part of sign language grammar, not decoration; they show question types, negation, emotion, intensity, and meaning, while body movement helps the signer communicate even more clearly.

Lesson 3: Object Description
Lesson 3 teaches how to describe objects in sign language using four steps: Name it, Frame it, Fill it, Place it. It introduces textures, materials, conditions and much more. Classifiers, facial expressions, movement, and spatial referencing are also explored to help show what an object looks like, how it feels, how it moves, and where it is placed in the signing space.

Lesson 4: Storytelling Structure
Lesson 4 teaches the grammar of clear and engaging signed storytelling structures. Skills include establishing the time and place, assigning characters and objects to in signing space, introducing people, and using pace, pauses, facial expressions, classifiers, and rhetorical questions to create emotion, suspense, and a clear ending.

Lesson 4: Storytelling Structure – Vocabulary and Practice

Lesson 5: Character Viewpoint
Lesson 5 teaches the difference between storytelling as a narrator, or as a character in the story. It explores key skills such as role shifting, eye gaze, facial expression, posture, and signing style to show who is speaking, their relationship, personality, and emotion without needing signs like “he said” or “she said.”
