Course Content

1. Introduction to Deaf Culture & Personal Pronouns
This lesson introduces learners to the foundations of Deaf culture in Lebanon, highlighting identity, sign language and terms used to refer to the Deaf community. Students will also learn how to use personal pronouns in Lebanese Sign Language (LS), such as I, you, he, she, we, they, and apply them in simple phrases. and apply them in basic greeting conversations. By the end, learners will gain both cultural awareness and the ability to identify and refer to people as well as greet the Deaf with confidence.

2. Simple Sentences & Verbs in everyday life
In this lesson, learners will practice building basic sentences in Lebanese Sign Language (LSL) using common verbs and everyday expressions. The focus is on practical communication- talking about daily routines, actions, and needs. By combining signs for subjects, verbs, and objects, learners will start forming will start forming longer clearer sentences, preparing them for real-life conversations.

3. Describing People, Family, & Possessives
In this lesson, learners will practice how to describe people using basic adjectives (e.g., tall, short, young, old) and identify family members in Lebanese Sign Language (LSL). The lesson also introduces possessive signs (my, your, his, her, our, their) to help learners talk about relationships and belongings. By the end, students will be able to introduce their family and pets, describe appearance, and express simple possessive sentences in everyday conversations.

4.Describing Objects
This lesson focuses on learning how to describe everyday objects in Lebanese Sign Language (LSL). Learners will practice using handshapes as codes to different objects, as well as learn colors and characteristics to make their communication more precise. By combining descriptive signs, and additional verbs they will learn, students will be able to ask about, identify, and describe common objects used in daily life.

5. Tenses and Time Indicators
In this lesson, learners will explore how time and tense are expressed in Lebanese Sign Language (LSL). The focus will be on time indicators such as today, yesterday, tomorrow and others and how they are placed in sentences to show past, present, or future meaning. By the end, students will be able to combine verbs with time indicators to talk about daily schedules, past events, and future plans.

6. Places and Professions
This lesson introduces signs for common places (e.g., home, school, hospital, market) and professions (e.g., teacher, doctor, student, worker) in Lebanese Sign Language (LSL). Learners will understand the reasoning behind these signs and will practice forming more elaborate sentences. By the end of this session, students will be able to identify everyday locations, talk about jobs, and describe where people work or study.

7. Questions and Commands
In this lesson, learners will discover how to use questions and commands in Lebanese Sign Language (LSL). The focus is on question words (who, what, where, when, why, how) and on forming yes/no questions with proper facial expressions. Students will also learn common commands (come, stop, pay-attention, hurry) for everyday interactions. By the end, learners will be able to ask for information, give simple instructions, and respond naturally in conversations.

8. Food & The Alphabet
This lesson introduces students to Arabic and English alphabet used in LSL through fingerspelling, helping them spell names and unfamiliar words. It also covers essential food and drink vocabulary (e.g. bread, water, coffee, fruits, vegetables). By the end, students will be able to spell simple words with the manual alphabet, order or request basic foods, and talk about eating and drinking in everyday situations.

9. Directional Verbs & Numbers
In this lesson, learners will practice directional verbs in Lebanese Sign Language (LSL) such as give, ask, help. This helps learners understand the use of space in sign language grammar and build clearer shorter sentences. The lesson also introduces numbers for counting, age, time, and basic daily use. By the end, students will be able to count from 1 to millions, express ages and quantities, and use directional verbs to show the flow of action between people.

10. Performative verbs
This lesson introduces learners to performative verbs in Lebanese Sign Language (LSL) - verbs where the action’s intensity and emotional context is shown directly through the movement or mime of the sign itself. These verbs make communication highly visual and animated. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use performative verbs in simple sentences and become more comprehensible even to non-signers.

It is a very efficient course. Well structured and helpful for people who want to learn sign language, whether for personal or academic purposes. The story behind each sign it helps you feel more connect to the language. Storytelling is an excellent way to memorize signs and improve retention. The examples given by Naila are meaningful, and the quizzes provided by Chafic help you practice and assess your knowledge effectively.

Great course for beginners. Everything is well explained, easy to navigate and delivered nicely, precisely, and in a fun way. It offers interesting information about the words taught and has a quiz/assignment section so you can make sure that you're on the right track. By the end, I could understand sign language and make my own signs. Amazing experience, honestly.
